MEMBERS INFO

MEMBERS COMPETITION DIARY

Our club committee who's who & how members competitions are run & how to get involved !

To take part in members completions you first need a WHS (World Handicapping System) Golf Handicap. To get one simply get a fellow member to mark 3 cards for you, 3 x18 hole rounds, playing to the rules of golf. Simply enter the number of shots taken at each hole no matter what the score. Write your name & 'card for handicap' on them and when you have 3 done submit the 3 of them into the members cards box in the proshop, you should have an official handicap sorted within a few days. Any questions contact shane.

Communication with Members is preferably done through whatsapp, there is a private 2021 members group, if your a member and still  need to be added then contact shane and he will add you to the group. Please refrain from posting anything which may offend others. The group is for all members , Juniors, ladies & Gents. Its ideal for getting club info and arranging games with other members.

When you have your handicap, you can then enter club competitions... Competition Entry costs £3 unless otherwise stated, there is also the optional two's bet, £2 in most competitions, this is a private wager amongst adult members and paid out in cash, the maximum two's pay-out per person in any given comp is £100, with any balances rolled over, unless there is a hole in one, then the full pot goes to that person to help them pay the bar bill. eg if the is £120 in the twos pot and there are 3 twos in a comp then each person who got a two gets £40 cash

Junior Members who have official Handicaps may enter members competitions for a reduced entry fee of £2 per comp, should they win they will receive a Junior Prize which is dependent on numbers entered. When playing Competitions they should play from same tee as adults. They cannot enter the twos comp.

There are also a few special comps for members.... The Majors...for the Majors we normally like to do Open Draws for your playing partners, usually there will be a morning & afternoon time slot reserved for competitors with an entry sheet to add your name to, then the committee does a draw for your playing partners and exact tee off time, a great way to meet other members. DRESS CODE @ MAYOBRIDGE GOLF CLUB
Just keep it smart, golfing wear is preferred at Mayobridge, so please refrain from wearing Football, Rugby or GAA clothing on the course or in the clubhouse especially gear that will cause offence to others. Footwear on the course should not be worn in lounge or bar area of clubhouse.

SLOW PLAY....The Bain of most clubs. The rule is simple, your group must keep up with the group in front, if a gap develops in front of you and there is a group  behind, you MUST PULL OVER and let them through straight away, the longer you wait the more you clog up the course behind you, so best to do it straight away or else you may have to let more than one group through.

To Speed up Play we Suggest all groups play READY GOLF, this basically means hitting your shot when your ready and  it is safe to do so even if you happen to be closer to the hole than your playing partners. Shorter players hitting from the tee first if longer players might have to wait. Hitting your shot before helping to look for someone's ball, you only get 3 minutes search time now. Always marking cards at the next tee, not beside the green, always think of those behind.

RETURNING COMPETITION CARDS
If you enter a competition YOU MUST RETURN A CARD, if a member does not return their card they will be suspended from competitions for a period of seven days from the close of that competition. It is the players own responsibility to sign in and pay the correct entry fees before their round, and to submit the signed card after their round without undue delay.
